-Lector-
Pray also for me, so that when I speak, a message may be given to me to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel
-Ephesians 6:19
Lectors play a vital role in the celebration of Mass by proclaiming the Word of God to the assembly. Their primary responsibility is to read the designated Scripture passages—typically the First Reading from the Old Testament and the Second Reading from the New Testament—during the Liturgy of the Word. In some cases, they may also lead the Responsorial Psalm (if not sung) and announce the intentions for the Universal Prayer (Prayer of the Faithful).
This ministry is a sacred act of making God’s Word present to the community. Lectors are called to prepare spiritually and practically, studying the readings in advance and practicing clear, reverent delivery. Their voice becomes a vessel through which the faithful encounter Scripture, and their presence at the ambo reflects the dignity and solemnity of the liturgy.
As a Lector, please be aware of your schedule. We create new schedules every 2-3 months with the Ministry Scheduler Pro (MSP) app. Please download this app and keep an updated email address so that you can indicate your availability. If you are unable to come, mark yourself as “sub requested” in the MSP app.
Lector Duties:
- Arrive 10-15 minutes prior to Mass and sign into the kiosk.
