Matrimony
Section title here

"The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament." (Code of Canon Law)

Marriage Preparation

To begin the marriage preparation process, the couple should contact the priest directly at least six (6) months before the anticipated wedding. Many questions are answered in our wedding policy booklet. We follow all diocesan requirements, including an introductory course in Natural Family Planning.

All couples must complete a premarital inventory (Fully Engaged) which is a survey of attitudes on basic areas of married life: children, in-laws, religion, finances, etc. This inventory is not a “test” for compatibility; rather, it is a tool to foster discussions about these various aspects of married life. A fee for processing Fully Engaged and other paperwork may be required.

If you have a family member or personnel friend that is qualified (a bishop, priest or deacon ordained in the Catholic Church) and you would like them to preside at your wedding, here at St. Patrick's, you can request permission for this by talking to the pastor.

If you live a distance from North Platte, you may participate in marriage preparation at another parish, but we ask that you stay in contact with the priests at St. Patrick's about your intentions.
